Miles Macleod was elected a Elmbridge Borough Councillor for Weybridge North in 2008, with a strong record of getting action on things that affect our community. He works very actively as a member of council, with particular interests in environmental issues, managing parking, and ensuring local government is open and accountable. Miles was elected Vice Chairman of EBC Overview and Scrutiny Committee for 2010-11.
Hazel Watson - Leader of the current 13 Lib Dem Councillors on Surrey County Council. Qualified as a solicitor, Hazel Watson is Lib Dem spokesperson on corporate management, member of SCC's Local Committee in Mole Valley, and member of SCC's Personnel and Appointments committee. She has previously worked for the CBI on education and training policy.
Barbara Beaumont was elected Chair of Weybridge Liberal Democrats in January 2011. Barbara lives in Weybridge, and is a wife and mother of a grown up family. She started her working life as a police officer stationed at Weybridge. She is now a solicitor practising locally and has extensive experience in problem solving. Barbara's interests include transport, including availability of public transport, car parking fees and the impact of vehicles on the quality of our lives. Barbara Beaumont was Lib Dem Candidate for Weybridge South in 2010.
Vicki Macleod is Treasurer (and former Chair) of Weybridge Liberal Democrats. Vicki has lived in Weybridge for 20 years, and cares deeply about our community and local quality of life. She has a strong understanding of issues faced by education, health services, social care and businesses. And she has a great record of getting things done, in a career spanning education, leadership and business. Vicki was Lib Dem Candidate for Walton South and Oatlands Division of Surrey County Council, and Oatlands Park ward of Elmbridge Borough Council, May 2010.
Graham Winton has been involved in a huge range of community activities for many years. He was a Weybridge North Councillor for 24 years, leader of the Elmbridge Liberal Democrat group, and was Mayor of Elmbridge in 2006-7. Graham is now secretary of Weybridge Lib Dems. Locally he is widely known for his work with Weybridge Old Folks club.
Tim Crowther was a councillor for Weybridge North for twelve years. He was a highly respected Chairman of the Community Affairs Overview and Scrutiny committee on Elmbridge Borough Council, and played an active in town planning, affordable housing, and many other areas of council responsibility. He also has a strong interest in open spaces, and in 2011 became Chairman of the Open Spaces Society.
Gillian Solway is a long standing Liberal Democrat who contributes to a wide range of local party activities. Gillian is a retired teacher and business woman who, as the principal of the Weybridge Play School and the CDE Centre, started hundreds of children with their education. She has lived in Weybridge since 1967 and is active in many organisations including Sam Beare.
Louis Solway is a central figure in Weybridge Lib Dems. He chaired the Elmbridge Environmental Forum for five years, is a member of the Weybridge Society Transport Group, a strong proponent of 20mph speed limits in residential areas, and has stood as Lib Dem candidate in three elections.
Matt Barr is at 38 a veteran of local politics. He was a Lib Dem councillor in Essex from 1993-2000, and is a strong advocate of local government taking an ethical approach to people and the environment, while exercising careful fiscal control. Matt stood as a candidate in Weybridge South in 2008.
Pam Winton is an energetic contributor to local activities, and frequent organiser of fundraising and social events.
