The Thames and Wey riversides: treasured amenity

Weybridge is graced with beautiful riversides which are publicly accessible. These are much used and valued by residents and visitors alike.

The local stretch of the River Wey Navigation is National Trust owned and is a conservation area.

The Thames riverside between Weybridge and Walton, along the Desborough Cut, carries the Thames Path and a Sustrans national cycle route.

The character of the local riverside landscape is very much defined by the presence and variety of trees.  The riverside provides a big and welcome contrast to the urban landscape -- it is a publicly accessible stretch of countryside right on the doorstep of Weybridge.

The River Thames is much used for recreation and sporting activities, with with two rowing clubs, an extremely active canoe club, and two sailing clubs.  The riverside is popular for fishing.
